Spring Scene in the Valley of the Sun

Baseball is Back – Every February, Phoenix welcomes 15 Major League Baseball teams for Spring Training in the renowned Cactus League. Fans are treated to an up-close-and-personal look at their favorite teams and players as they watch games and practices, collect autographs and enjoy tasty ballpark food and activities. Of course Hotel Palomar Phoenix puts you in the center of the action, making it easy to get to any of the 10 facilities around Phoenix that host the teams while still keeping you close to the city’s best dining, shopping, nightlife and more.

Live Entertainment – Sure the spring temperatures can get pretty warm in Phoenix, but that’s nothing compared to the hot live entertainment offerings around the city. There’s Talking Stick Resort Arena, in the heart of downtown Phoenix and just steps from Hotel Palomar, where Phoenix Suns and Mercury fans can catch all of the NBA & WNBA home games as well as major touring acts like the Foo Fighters (April 12th) and the Eagles (April 21st & 26th). There’s also the Arizona Federal Theatre, just a 10-minute walk from the hotel that features popular live comedy and music acts as well as kids programming (Paw Patrol, anyone?). Venture a bit further from downtown (a 20-minute drive, approximately) and you can take in an amazing outdoor concert at the AK Chin Pavilion — the perfect way to spend a spring evening in Phoenix.

Festival Season – In Phoenix, we know all about the four seasons: summer, fall, winter and festival season. From food to art to culture, no matter when you visit the city this spring, you’re almost guaranteed to be in town during a beloved festival in Phoenix. Local favorites include the Phoenix Film Festival (March 26 – April 5), Phoenix Pride Festival (April 4 – 5) and Arizona Restaurant Week (May 14 – 24), and that’s just a taste of what you can explore when you’re out and about in the city.

Gorgeous Greens – While you can find nearly 200 golf courses in pristine condition around Phoenix, we’ve got a few of our favorites tee’d up:

  • Papago Golf Course (about a 15-minute drive from Hotel Palomar) is considered one of the most beautiful public golf courses in the state of Arizona and was designed by the same course architect who created the famous Torrey Pines.
  • Set against the backdrop of South Mountain with stunning mountain and city views, Raven Golf Club (about a 16-minute drive from the hotel) offers a par-72, championship-level course as well as a state-of-the-art practice facility so you can perfect your putt or even get a lesson from a PGA teaching professional.
  • Located in the Sonoran Desert and awarded 4 stars from Golf Digest, Arizona Grand Golf Course (about a 17-minute drive from the hotel) is an exemplary desert golf course. Known for gorgeous views, a unique and delightfully challenging layout, and exceptional service, this is a must-visit for golf aficionados.
